SUNY Adirondack offers free 'Tell Your Story' event

QUEENSBURY (March 4, 2024) — Kate Austin knows the importance of building a brand. As founder, owner and CEO of Advokate, she has crafted a career in helping clients capitalize on what makes them unique.
In “Tell Your Story,” hosted by SUNY Adirondack’s Business Club at 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 18, Austin will share what she has learned promoting companies, nonprofit organizations and artists.
“Being able to highlight your achievements and emphasize your strengths are essential skills in building a resume and, eventually, a career,” said Robert Bullock, Business professor and co-advisor of SUNY Adirondack’s Business Club. “Ms. Austin will provide accessible ways to discover and present one’s brand.”
Austin, an award-winning marketing professional, is co-founder of Glens Falls Arts District. A well-known advocate of the arts, she served as interim director of World Awareness Children’s Museum, manager of The Shirt Factory Arts & Healing Center, president of NorthCountryARTS, arts calendar editor for Glens Falls Chronicle, and board member of Art in the Public Eye. She was one of The Post-Star’s 20 under 40 in 2019. More recently, she was named a NYS Woman of Distinction. She serves on the Board of the Glens Falls Business Improvement District.
Kate has delivered her sought-after “Marketing for the 21st Century” talk at SUNY Adirondack numerous times, and presented her “Developing Your Brand” seminar for the Small Business Development Center at Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce, Adirondack Business Development Partnership at SUNY Adirondack’s Regional Higher Education Center and at the Shirt Factory’s LocalFest.
Kate Austin’s “Tell Your Story” program is jointly sponsored by the SUNY Adirondack Business Division and the college’s Business Club. The event is open to the public, particularly those interested in pursuing business studies at SUNY Adirondack, and will be held in Scoville Learning Center, Room 206. Public parking for the event is located adjacent to Adirondack Hall.
