Learning outcomes
- Identify and analyze ethical and legal issues related to IT security.
- Demonstrate understanding of current security concepts relative to policy development, physical security, network defense, and disaster and recovery planning.
- Apply industry-standard IT security practices to protect against various social engineering and technical security risks.
- Secure information as it exists on computer systems and transmits over networks.
- Design and present an IT security proposal outlining security policies and procedures with technical hardware and software recommendations.
Curriculum and requirements
Internships provide students hands-on experience with regional businesses. Our Data Matrix Zone (DMZ) club provides opportunities for trips to industry leaders such as Cisco Systems and Google. Students work alongside IT professionals on dream teams at such events as NBA All-Star Week. Students may access our IT Computer Networking and Security VM labs using Windows, Linux, Kali and Metasploitable.

SUNY Adirondack's Cybersecurity degree program prepares graduates for further education. Graduates have automatic acceptance and full-credit transfer to SUNY Empire State or Excelsior.
