Nursing students
We are proud to educate the next generation of health care leaders in our prestigious Nursing program.
SUNY Adirondack's Nursing program is the only course of study at the college that requires a separate application process. After being accepted to the college, those who meet certain qualifications can apply to the program.
To qualify, one must:
- Be 18 years of age or older before the first day of classes.
- Have a GPA of 2.8 or better.
- Be eligible to enter college-level math and English, as determined by placement tests or earned credits.
- Complete a HESI A2 Nursing admissions test.
- Achieve a grade of C+ (77) in all nursing courses and in BIO 107, BIO 108 and BIO 223.
- Meet college- and hospital-specific requirements — including annual physical examination, proof of vaccination requirements, TB testing, Health Care Provider CPR, malpractice insurance, completion of felony conviction information, proof of medical insurance and completion of a criminal background check — by the application due date.
Applications are accepted between Jan. 1 and Feb. 1 for fall consideration and between Aug. 1 and Sept. 1 for spring consideration.
- Once admitted to the Nursing program, students must:
- Attend a mandatory Nursing Program Orientation, at which they receive a Student Nursing Handbook that contains important Nursing Program Policies.
- Sign the final page of this handbook acknowledging they received and understood policies they are bound to as a nursing student at SUNY Adirondack.
- Attend the cohort registration informational session (scheduled before registration) and the Nursing Program Orientation (traditional students), or register for and take the LPN transition course (LPN/Transfer students) before the start of the semester entering the Nursing program.
